I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of HTML websites. I cut my teeth learning how to code HTML sites.
However, changing every page every time I wanted or needed to make a single change or add a new page was tedious and time consuming. It was frustrating knowing that if I made a single mistake, it would take quite a long time to make a fix and consequently, building sites stopped being fun.
The last straw was when I wanted to add contact forms. Email links opened up the site to tons of spam and made the site look dated before it’s time. Adding a dynamic contact form meant adding code in PHP.
“PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor is a server-side scripting language designed for Web development, but also used as a general-purpose programming language.” Wikipedia
Web Development. PHP is the programming language behind WordPress. WordPress is a Content Management System. It drives about 30% of all web sites.
That’s a lot of web sites.
The first time I programmed a menu in PHP I was hooked. That and the dedication of Automattic – the company behind WordPress – to continue to create a professional product finally convinced me that it was time to stop wasting my time.
Now, unless I need a very simple, one-page announcement type of site, WordPress is my go-to website builder of choice. It was probably the best decision I’ve made in awhile. HTML is rarely responsive and that means more coding – you might even being paying monthly for a separate site.
While creating a site from scratch may be cost-prohibitive, updating an existing site by converting it to WordPress comes in at a much lower price-point.
If your site is looking dated or the cost of having to maintain two separate sites is putting a strain on your budget, please use the Contact Page and let’s talk about how we can get your site updated, responsive, secure, and easily managed.
I look forward to hearing from you!
